volume 2 - Glamis
& Craigievar Castles The Scots Baronial style of architecture evolved during the Middle Ages, and the castle of Glamis in Angus is perhaps its supreme masterpiece. Unlike Glamis, Craigievar Castle did not expand over a period of centuries, but was the work of a master-mason, John Bell, and remains as he completed it. Both castles have been preserved by their owners, and today even their ghosts have been happy to stay catalogue numbers: RELV015 (vol2 video) |

volume 3 - Culzean
& Inveraray Castles In the 18th century the chiefs of the ancient Kennedy and Campbell clans, both perhaps of British descent, built new castles for themselves in the Celtic west. The 9th Earl of Cassellis commissioned Robert Adam to transform his mansion on the cliffs of Culzean into one of the masterpieces of his genius. These Adams interiors now invite comparison with those of Robert Mylne at Inveraray Castle, who had won a 'prize in the highest class' in Rome in 1758, under the jealous eyes of Adam. catalogue numbers: RELV016 (vol3 video) |

volume 5 - Dunrobin
& Floors Castles At opposite ends of Scotland stand two ducal mansions of astonishing magnificence. Dunrobin was originally a mediaeval castle, transformed in the mid-19th century into what might be mistaken for a French chateau. Floors was originally a house of classical design by William Adam, enlarged at about the same time into a Victorian extravaganza of pepper-pot turrets and pseudo-defensive parapets. catalogue numbers: RELV018 (vol5 video) |

volume 6 - Blair & Brodie Castles These two castles stand in old Pictland. According to legend, one takes its name from the Plain of Fotla's Ford, anglicised to Blair Atholl. Castle Blair is an Aladdin's cave of historical souvenirs and palatial furnishings, Brodie Castle with its unique collection of daffodils is a memorial to centuries of domestic happiness. catalogue numbers: RELV019 (vol6 video) |
